Today I had lunch at Vanilla Bar & Cafe along Boon Tat Street :D
When my friend told me that this is a Japanese cafe,
I was like o.O mm, Vanilla definitely sounds more western than Japanese to me hahaha!
Sandwiched in the middle of three shop houses, this is one of those
charming little places that offers you a brief but much welcomed from the hustle and bustle of the lunch crowd.
On a side note, this cafe has a very creative presentation of Vanilla Dirt Cake which is served with a flower and jelly worms tossed in to recreate a flower pot!
Main ingredients include vanilla cream & crushed oreo cookies.*Start imagining*
By the way, they offer 1-for-1 house pours and draft beers from 4-8pm!!
Perhaps, you and your colleagues can have some desert & drinks to wind down for the evening? ;)
The menu looks pretty old school too with its torn edges.
The cafe is a very small, cosy and quaint place.
With a little hint of
japanese minimalism in place, Olivia Ong soundtrack and the scent of
vanilla candles.
There are 2 sections to the cafe. A more casual sitting at the front. And
a more cosy inner sitting area.
Yet, there is still space for an alfresco right at the back of the cafe!
Soup of the day : Potato & Leek Soup
Just an additional $2.80 on top of your main course.
After doing some research online, I found out beside the highly recommended Norwegian Smoked Salmon & Egg Mayo Sandwich, either the Pork Katsu Sandwich or Slow Cooked Pulled Pork Sandwich is also equally popular.
So for individuals like me who like to try a little of everything, get a Mini Burger Sampler ($8.90).
The meat was nicely battered and fried to a lovely golden-brown, and was all crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside and ain't fatty nor does it taste oily!
Certainly makes it
feel as if its a guiltless treat! :P
No complaints for Curry Katsu Don ($10.90) so I assumed it's decent as well (:
This is the perfect place if you want your little corner for a cosy lunch,
even more so if you have the company of a wonderful companion like I did.
